It tickles me whenever I hear sermons that say 'God will not answer my prayers if my hair is not covered'. Truthfully, I once absorbed this teaching and doctrine. 2008 after my admission in school, I came home one day and saw my mom sprawled on the floor not moving. No one was home and while trying to call my dad and a neighbour, I sat by her and called out to her God.
The last thing on my mind was a headtie or head covering. At that moment, her life was my concern. I groaned out to God and dared him to answer. (I love to dare God a lot. Lol. That's how we operate). He showed up. He heard me. And I knew that. I have been in various situations and I've called out to God and he heard me.
And sincerely, he did not look at my hair covering or the lack of it, oh and I rarely cover my hair, to make matters worse I am on a lowcut (and I've been told I'm going against God's plan for a woman by cutting my hair). See, my God transcends these rules and inanities. I don't serve a petty being. He is not concerned with these show we put up.
I approach God in any form especially in my state of undress. I listened to Planet fm this morning and the above was the subject matter and I laughed with my folks. The theological or philosophical argument about God and rules is something I long shoved aside.
I will never tie or limit the expression and operation of God to some flimsy man made material. It is really insulting to God. This is even hilarious to imagine.
Our problem is that we are too philosophized, too cultured, too knowledgeable and too intellectual to accept the simplicity of the gospel of Christ for what it is. The Bible is explicit on how a woman ought to appear. There are not three forces in this world, they are just two.
The way to God and heaven is Jesus Christ by His Word, the entire Word. This devil we think is our mate is over 6000 years old. The only thing he cannot mimick or circumvent is Gods word... To me covering of hair is to show a sign of humbleness and honour in the presence of God but not that God will not answer your prayers if you don't.
He his a God of mercy and choose to have upon anyone. But there are some hairstyles that can even be distractive to people and even youself in the house of God especially in our present times reasons why it is advisable cover your hair to aid connections with God when praying or in d house of God.
And besides it does not take anything from us, it just a physical sign of humbleness which sometimes evolve from the heart 2 #chro7:14
