"Why do today what you can do tomorrow?" I used to find this sentence quite funny and rather interesting till I realized that it was getting the better part of me and permeating my subconscious, thus affecting my conscious behavior. And, I know it's not just me but this goes for a lot of young people like me who feel we can afford to have that extra moment of sleep, spend some little more time playing that game, spend some little more time chilling.
Now, I'm not against sleeping, "chilling" or playing. No, such activities are needed for the refreshment of our bodies. But then, it becomes an issue when 60% or more of your life is spent on "play" and "rest". There's definitely no need to procrastinate. Why not do what needs to be done now, so you can afford the spare time to do what you want to do? In the long run, you'll see that doing things when they ought to be done and not procrastinating a moment further, would even give you more time for leisure and a peace of mind.
Inspired:
Saying no to being talked down, being treated as a "spare tyre"[people only come to you when they have no other palatable option left] and being treated as not good enough, doesn't make you foolish or childish. It doesn't mean you are asking for too much. It just means you're grown up enough to know what you want from each person you meet and to walk away rather than keep hurting yourself unnecessarily. It means you love yourself enough to realize that you're done with being insignificant.
It means you've realized that you have value. So don't be shy or afraid to tell that person straight up to talk to you politely. Don't be scared to tell that person "no, I refuse to help you if all I am is the person who will always do stuff for you and once it's done you bolt". Don't be afraid to tell that person to stop treating you badly. Don't feel it's hypocritical or wrong to keep your distance from people who make you feel worthless. Sometimes you have to let go of sentiments. You have a worth. You are valuable.

So in answer to the question "why do today what you can do tomorrow?", I say "because doing it today brings me closer to my dreams and goals and also brings me closer to having unrestrained and undisturbed leisure time".
