They are bent on developing entrepreneurs by providing funds expected to be saved by paticipant for the next 2years so that dey can start their own small business thereby engaging themselves and reducing unemployment. Online it was cleary stated that "You are by no means taking the position principal officers of wherever PPA you find yourself....Instead you worj as assistants".
NPower itself stated it that way.......even on the new developd site you will see it dare boldly written who kind of program employs people regardless you course of study or area of specialization...... I have a lady who studied yoruba and she registered for N-health.....her alert has never stopped entering. Ask yourself, Why have they not posted Health, where are they going to put them???? How many primary health centres still functions
Thats 720,000 naira in 2years... close to a million naira.... You can start up a small business with that amount. That is the aim and purpose of this program. I have seen people start small business with far less and now are their own CEOs. Dont be fooled by permanent employment..... THERE WILL BE NO SUCH TING...... And dont think you can ever reapply for npower program again after benefiting for 2years.... They have their data bank and your BVN is linked already. Just save and extablish yourself....
But if you cant save all....you can still save 20 or 15k monthly dats 480,000 close to half a million. Even at that tho, its shows the lack of synergy between fed n state govt because they are all govt as far as I'm concerned. More interestingly, is the motive behind npower and how unfortunately we volunteers (majority of us who are expected to graduates) view the scheme. I will continue to say that it is means to an end.
I once gave an instance of a lady who is gradually setting up her business via npower scheme. Some of us are really saving. While some no even get nothing for acct. After all its just a social intervention programme. Officially, npower will be 7months since its inception. What can we really say we have gained?? I think this are the kind of question we should be asking ourselves. To what extent has this scheme been of extreme value to you and I??
Truth be told, we are still jobless. That's the truth. Why I am saying this is because we shouldn't relax and feel contended. We shouldn't settle for less. Yes there ate no jobs but that's doesn't mean we shouldn't strive to continue to aim at the top. If care isn't taken, npower might be a blessing or a curse in disguise. Blessing in the sense that after a year some of us are likely to become an entrepreneur while some will be so carried away from the 30k monthly thus going to square 1.
E.g We are like 5 npower volunteers in our PPA. One is about starting is fishery business (tho little but its something) courtesy of npower.
2 of us are currently furthering our academic pursuit (masters) all thanks to npower. One is setting up her business (hairdresser), npower to be praised.
There is one who is so carried away wiv the notion about this "npower thing" that she is now beginning to lose focus. Thinking its a job itself. Well our dreams and aspirations are different.
My take is that we should direct our focus on how to use this scheme for our betterment. (That's the intervention gangan)
On the issue of permanent job. For me its not 50/50. Infact na 75%-25%. We have to tell ourselves the truth. We are all looking at the possibility of Lagos state recruiting us cos of the fact that they have what's it takes among all other states. Like I use to ask my colleagues "what if it doesn't happen??" Was it also part of the mou that Lagos should retain us after the programme. Rem more are still coming.
Bottom line: wise up and don't over relent on npower. We are not there yet. Hustling continues. This battle is for the brave. I pray we all make it in life.
(My opinion, it might not make sense to some of us) On what next after the N-Power programme. Let us try to provide some insight. As an existing beneficiary, N-Power hopes that in two years, you would have honed enough skills to strike out on your own or be an employer of labour.
You may say that is not easy but the truth is you must have a plan, all beneficiaries know this is for 2 years so you must begin with a plan.
After two years, you have the knowledge and hopefully some savings to push on. We are not afraid. We believe that an N-Power Volunteer is one who isn't afraid to learn new things and one who is also prepared for the future.
You will all outgrow this platform. You will do well because you are all intelligent people. Others who will come after you will learn from you how to make the most of the time at N-Power.
Start something today, start that fish farm in your backyard, start a co-operative with other N-Power volunteers, look at your community and think up solutions to the issues.
You are Nigerian and you are #NPowered Thanx CLASSYVIEW...
