46 Doctors Only In a Whole State Of Zamfara

There are only 46 medical doctors in the whole of Zamfara State. Let that sink in first... Okay, the state has an estimated population of about 4million people (3.3m in 2006 census), 14 LGAs and an area of 39,762 km² or 15,352 mi². That means, in that state, we have;

1 doctor to every 87,000 people.
3 doctors to each local government area.
1 doctor for every 862 km² or 334 mi².
The state is hardly doing anything to grow the number of its doctors and better this horrible statistics. No, we read from those from the state that they have a hiatus governor. Always in Abuja. That is hardly surprising.

The state is not making efforts to recruit or train. Medical and health service providers in the state are probably the most demotivated. It is not uncommon for medical staff one to be in the same position for about 4 - 5 years without promotion.

According to the Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union, 20 of these doctors are in the state capital. While the rest of the state manage the other 26. Even if there are 25% of the state's population residing in the capital, that still leaves 26 doctors to the other 3m, which means 1 doctor to every 115,000 people.

What is annoying is that with this damning statistics, the state and its governor are said to have commissioned 500 clerics to pray for Baba Buhari. A man who even when he was a private citizens, long after his first stint as military Head of State, before he became our President once again, has the best medical care.

While he is still in Nigeria, Baba has anywhere between 5 to 10 doctors to take care of him. Right now he is in the hands of some of the best medical brains in the world, using the best facilities and medical support staff, from doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lab scientists or whatever it is the call them.

At any given time, between 2 - 3 doctors or more will be on him. And because he is Head of the Nigerian State, not only is Nigeria paying for his care and treatment, he is also the guest of the British government. Those 500 Zamfarawa and their compatriots need the prayer more than Baba Buhari.

They should leave him alone, for he is good hands in UK. And please, let no clown come here to lecture us about religion. We know the importance of prayer, we will just not allow selfish, wicked, heartless, and visionless rulers to use it to deceive us.

We all need prayers, even the healthiest among us need prayers to stay healthy. But the governor and people of Zamfara need more prayers than Baba Buhari. They should pray to God almighty that their governor is given a solid brain, a selfless, thinking, visionary brain.

When we criticize that foolish meningitis excuse of quoting faith based scripture, it is not because be lack faith. It is because we know that the simply thing to do is spend the money that is meant for people on people, their health, agriculture, education, road etc. Not to steal it and build N1.2b hotel, as reported, that is now infamously referred to "Hotel De Meningitis" (Damola's wicked heart).

46? That is less than the number of the doctors in Barau Dikko Hospital, let alone ABUTH. Even with the terrible hand and medical environment we force on our doctors, Barau Dikko is in a city that house 3 other hospitals of its kind. No! We need the prayer! Our heartless and clueless rulers in the north also need the prayers. They especially need special deliverance from their own €vil. Or that He deliver us from them.
